Abstract
In the contemporary multicultural societies school integration and school success of pupils with immigrant background consist of an educational claim. A principal inquiry lies about ‘what’ schooling should do to agree with the quest of equal educational opportunities, by utilizing cultural and linguistic diversity. Responses could be obtained through the analysis of research data from the programme of PISA (2000, 2003 and 2006). The objective of the present study lies in pointing – based on a comparative analysis of the PISA results – factors that positively influence the school performance of pupils with immigrant background (i.e. school climate, learning environment, teaching methodology, teaching the mother tongue, school system). The significance of these factors holds a special interest within the frame of scientific discussion in intercultural pedagogy.
