Abstract
The Principal of the Greek Public School, on the one hand, deals with managerial / bureaucratic issues concerning the day-to-day operation of his school unit – as an executive agent – and on the other hand must fulfill his role as the leader of a modern, cooperative and efficient organization. At the same time, the philosophy of the NPM is expressed in education in forms that have been the subject of controversy and intense debate. However, theGreek ducational system maintains its traditional reflexes with the main characteristics being the fluidity of legal regulations and the defensive trade union mentality.
