Abstract
The article as a result of a research study sheds light on the expectations of IEK graduates as newly entering professionals in the labor market while at the same time studying the ontribution of career counseling to their professional development. Initially, through a literature review, the conditions that prevail in the modern labor market and the trend in the expectations presented by new graduates as new entrants are approached. At the same time, the institutional development in the field of VET and specifically in the field of VET and the value of the consulting career in this educational field is summarized. In addition, through research processes,an attempt was made to investigate the effectiveness of VET, through the institution of VET, in combination with the expectations of students on the one hand, and the service provided by these educational institutions, such as internships with the aim of entering the labor market, on the other hand. Finally, the contribution of the offices and career counselors – as a new legislated body of IEK – was an area of investigation in order to make the services offered and their effectiveness transparent to their graduates for a successful professional rehabilitation as possible. The purpose of the research was to study in depth the views and perceptions of IIEK graduates on the above issues. Fifteen IIEK graduates participated in the research and the qualitative method and the semi-structured interview were preferred. The speech of the graduates was the guide and thus the decoding of the social representations of the complex and complex phenomenon was attempted.
